The filmmaking & acting program
Futurefilms Summercamp mixes the best of elite film programs with that of exciting summer camps. Our aim is to create a place for students from all over the world to meet, in a safe and beautiful environment. Our course leaders are fluent in Swedish, English and Spanish aiding students into feeling comfortable and enabling learning at its best. It is hard to find this level of filmmaking intensity, combined with the amount of fun, anywhere else. Since no good movie is made alone, we strive to help participants find their natural place in the crew. Each student will get to experience the roles of an actor/actress, a sound technician, an assistant camera, and those of a cinematographer while crewing on the films with their classmates.
We are truly flexible and do our best to find a way to solve any issues arising on-set. This is a theoretical and practical program for teenagers interested in how to produce film for the first time. Students will learn the essentials of camera use, and will be shooting with ARRI Alexa and Blackmagic cameras . Students will also be taught how to use lightning (both synthetic and natural), separate audio recordings, film language and editing. Participants will rotate on the various tasks enabling them to experience several film production roles.
The program is divided into three main divisions:
• Pre-production: writing scripts, casting, finding locations, basic light setups, sound and much more!
• Production: we shoot with both digital cameras and film cameras.
• Post-production: editing with Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition and After Effects.
The storyboarding & conceptual art program
Some say you need talent to draw beautifully – we say you need to master the fundamentals of drawing first. Once this is done, you can start to develop some serious art skills. Independent of whether you wish to draw storyboards, portraits, comic books or any other type of conceptual art, the basics are the same. Futurefilms “Storyboarding & Conceptual Art program” covers a wide range of techniques and theories in order for students to learn these essentials, bringing them one step closer to becoming the artists that they wish to be.
This is a three-week intensive program for anyone with tickling fingers and a wild fantasy! Some of the fundamentals that you will learn to master are:
• Light & Shading
…as well as clever techniques for fast sketching. Don’t let the lack of knowledge hold you back – this workshop will ignite your creativity!
Admission & available course dates
Futurefilms is an exclusive school in the heart of Stockholm. We believe in “Learning by Doing” and “Learning by Action”, together with our sister school Futuregames. The ambition for our students, apart from enhancing the student’s skills and interest in filmmaking and drawing, is to enjoy the fantastic city of Stockholm with the northern summer light, and of course to create friendships for life. We limit the total number of students per session to be no more than thirty.
For the Filmmaking & Acting program, the maximum of ten per “film-crew” facilitates that all participants get the chance to film, to act, to direct and so on…The only fair allocation of places is on a “first-come-first-served-basis”. Hence Futurefilms has a rolling admission system, where the admissions office review and decides on applications as they are received, until all places are filled.
