The COVID- 19 pandemic has caused vast changes in all of our lives and has highlighted existing vulnerabilities and inequalities in all spheres of society – from health through to education. In this context, we have seen that the urgency to enhance digital skills and competencies for digital transformation in all sectors has never been greater – the vocational, education and training sector is no different. These changes concern at least 3 thematic areas of the DigCompEdu framework – Digital Resources, Empowering learners (especially ensuring accessibility and inclusion) and Facilitating Learner’s Digital Competence that are crucial to provide uninterrupted learning process.
With an abrupt change to ’remote’ and ’online’ training that COVID-19 brought, we have seen first-hand how (despite pockets of innovation and good practice), the VET sector struggled to adapt to this new teaching and learning environment that is dominated by digital technologies.
To reach the project’s aim, BEYZO has the following objectives:
